THE BLUE KOALA - A real british comedy.

Handlingen:
The year is 1972 and the International Women’s club has arranged an event to be held at the boulevard theatre to raise funds to save the endangered koala. Their mission is to display their commitment to the Queen Mother who has agreed to attend the event and be patron of this cause.

What follows is a roller coaster ride of excitement, the ladies passion spilling into many areas, this, mixed with some bad luck, some outrageous guests and even more outrageous ideas to save the Koala, all contribute to making this show into an excitingly unforgettable event.

A modern, fresh comedy with a large cast, some singing and the enviable charm of some very special women.

Written and directed by Mark Flanagan, a debuting writer, with ten years experience in producing comedy and satire.

The Cast:
Therese Lindberg (as: Angelique Dupont)
Graduated from Teaterhögskolan in Malmö (Academy of performing arts in Malmö) - 2005 has been working since at different theatres all over Sweden. Worked at Malmö Dramatiska Teater och Regionteatern in Växjö. This summer she will direct the entertainment programme at Astrid Lindgrens Värld where she has also worked over the last years. Therése also had the opportunity to live in France and speaks French fluently.

Caroline Johansson (as: Gia Ichin)
Started playing piano at the age of nine. Went on to specialise in musical theatre in Bjärnum after which left to further her education in music and dance at the performing arts school in Gothenburg. After completing her education she has worked as a show artist in many places including as an artist singing and dancing on Cruise ships in many different parts of the world. She makes her debut as actress in the Blue Koala.

Neil Martin-Banks (as: Kevin Fisher – Plumber)
Has worked in many areas of media with a strong focus on comedy appearences in TV include– Alan Partridge (BBC); Frank Skinner Show (ITV1); Family Affairs (Channel 5). In Theatre – Bottom in “A Midsommers Nights Dream” (William Shakespeare); Sam in “Afternoon” (Michael Ayers); Ambrose Salto in “Night School” (Harold Pinter); Harold Palmer in “Communicating Doors” (Alan Ayckbourn); Gerald Croft in “An Inspector Calls” (J.B. Priestly); “Plus many children & family theatre/entertainment shows. Worked with Voice-over & Radio – Disney’s “The Treehouse” (12 episodes); (in Sweden) Stryktipset; Visit Britain; Antikdeckarna; Plus over 25 information films.

Anna Katarina Fahlander
(as: Myrtle Ford)
Has been studying at Instituto d´Arte Scenica Italy after that went on to HB-studios with a two year acting programme in New York and attended the Stella Adler Film acting Program. She has also worked with Stockholm’s Scenkonstnärer. After finishing her education she took the lead role in “La Ronde” and also started a project with Atsushi Funahashi called “the Film gym” producing workshops for directors and actors along with producing a number of short films. She worked together with instillation artists putting together a production entitled the Kiss which was held on 5th Avenue and 63rd street in New York. In addition worked on the instillation art of Xavier Cha in a film version showcased at the Chelsea Gallery in Manhattan.

Anna Mariann Lundberg
(as: Greta Lennardsson)
Educated with song as her main instrument in the city of Gothenburg, after attending the Christina school of dance majoring in classical ballet. She has been involved in modelling as well as performing in different bands, choirs and events, and working behind the sets with subjects such as design, management and administration.

Majid Malik (as: Official Photographer)
Works as a charted accountant for a large insurance and banking company in Sweden is an avid sportsman playing, cricket (Swedish league), badminton (Swedish championship league), football, tennis.

Emil Kenonius
(as: Detective Police officer)
Educated at Molkoms Folkhighschool, Kulturama Theatreschool and Stockholms Elementary Theatre school 2002-2005. Emil has participated in several plays, movies and television films. Currently playing children’s theatre at schools and day-care centres. He also works as a director and scriptwriter. Anno Lindblad
(as: Professor Runnie)
Leading role in the musical drama “1956” at Oscarsteatern in Stockholm, a production widely covered by press & media.
Shakespeare at Romateatern on Gotland (King Lear & Richard III) and one of the leading roles as Emilia/Othello in “Othello” at Steninge Castle in Stockholm. This coming autumn (2008) the leading role as ‘Jerry’ in the musical “The Full Monty” at Kalmar Concert Hall. Due to practicing the martial arts for more than 20 years, he does allot of stage fighting-choreography, most recently in the play “Odysséen” at Riksteatern last autumn (2007).

Rita Laurent
(as: HRH the Queen Mother)
Born in South sea in 1932.
Educated in Wales graduated as a clothing designer, worked as a nurse in many fields. In Sweden she worked in many areas including as a namedman in the courts in Stockholm, has lots of expecience in theatrical wardrobe designing clothing for a Stockholm theatrical group. Active member of the Anglican Church in Stockholm. Is an avid literature fan, favourites include Shakespeare, is an accomplished reciter of poetry and an excellent cook!

Anna Åsdell
(as: Vivianne Black)
Born and raised in Lycksele Sweden. Went to Dramalinjen med filminriktning (acting for film) at Molkoms Folkhögskola. At Molkoms folkhögskola she also got the title Film and Theatre qualification. The summer -07 she played the tough pirate girl Simone in a children’s play called ”Råa Roger and guldbältets gåta” (Tough Roger and the mystery of the gold belt) at Daftö feriecenter in Strömstad. During -07 she also has been performing with a “Bear dance” at one of the Sámiparlament meetings, also at the arm wrestling world championships and other various locations.

Sue Geddes
(as: Jane Simmons)
Has both directed and acted in productions with the Stockholm Players and has worked for many years as a theatre teacher. Has also been active in directing of both musicals and theatre. Has taught English both in schools and as a consultant teaching Swedish business people. Spent many years teaching Drama in Canada and in Europe. Spends a large amount of time now recording talking books in English, mostly university literature.

Anders Menzinsky
(as: Queen mother’s private bodyguard)
Was educated at teaterwerkstan in Stockholm and been actively engaged in acting across a wide platform since 1998. Has taken major roles in many productions including the lead role as “Hamlet” at Spegel teatern. Now focusing mainly on film acting. Is a character actor with Constantin Sergeyevich Stanislavski as an inspiration.

Been working as an actor for a number of years, also involved in writing and directing currently working on a number of film projects he is producing.
